Issues for Maryland Voters in 2010

Dear Neighbor,

I believe we share a deep concern about the direction our state and our country are heading. Our elected officials in DC and Annapolis have ignored our calls for common sense, fiscal restraint and continue to spend our hard earned tax dollars and push us deeper and deeper into debt.

Worse, as times have demanded a renewed focus on jobs and economic growth, our "leaders" push an agenda hostile toward job creators. It's time we had leaders that understood that government is not the solution to our economic woes but rather a cause of those problems.

Higher taxes, higher fees, and more big government programs take money out of our economy and places it in the hands of bureaucrats.

My agenda includes:

  • Fiscal Reform

  • Government Reform

  • Economic Reform

  • Educational Reform

I hope I can count on your support.

Sincerely,

Economic Reform

  • Establish a 3 Month Sales Tax Holiday

  • Institute and Expand Job Enterprise Zones

  • Eliminate the Personal Property Tax

Education Reform

  • Take long term view of education

  • Reward excellence in teaching

  • End compulsory union membership in education

Government Reform

  • Enact term limits

  • Oppose sweetheart deals for Annapolis insiders

  • Reduce legislative pay to reflect a citizen legislature

Fiscal Reform

  • Support Zero-based budgeting

  • Eliminate special interest state funding

  • Pass truth in spending measures

Affordable Energy

  • Encourage development of renewable energy like solar and wind

  • Support an "all of the above" formula to reducing dependence on foreign oil

  • Promote common sense cost savings to consumers for energy reduction

  • "Build it" and the economic savings will drive consumer choices

Immigration Reform

  • Enforce the laws on the books

  • End "Chain Immigration"

  • Establish writing and speaking English as a condition for citizenship

Health Care

  • Support Legislation that allows citizens to "opt-out" of federal health takeover

  • Permit citizens to buy health care across state lines

  • Continue prohibition on insurance companies to cancel policies based on pre-existing conditions

  • Enact meaningful tort reform

  • Expand and promote Health Savings Accounts which empower the individual

  • Require Hospitals and Doctors to provide costs of services prior to treatment
